How to calculate Botafogo’s points-percentage record and that of other clubs in the Brasileirão
The points percentage in the Brasileirão shows the proportion of points won compared with the total available. The figure changes according to the championship edition and matchweek, so the year and reference date must be specified to reach an accurate number.
How to calculate points percentage in the Brasileirão
The calculation is simple: points percentage = points won ÷ points available × 100. In a campaign with 10 matches, a club has 30 points available. If it earns 18, its points percentage is 60%. A win is worth three points, a draw one and a defeat none. In competitions with postponed matches, the calculation should consider only games already played.
Botafogo’s points percentage in the Brasileirão
Botafogo’s points percentage must be linked to a specific Brasileirão edition and matchweek. The figure changes after every match, so there is no single percentage valid for all years. To calculate it, divide Botafogo’s points by the total points it could have earned by the date being analysed and multiply by 100.
Palmeiras and Flamengo’s points percentage in the Brasileirão
Palmeiras’ and Flamengo’s points percentages also depend on the championship selected and the point at which the figures are checked. A proper comparison uses the same matchweek and the same criteria for both clubs. If a team has 25 points from 12 matches, for example, its points percentage is 69.4%, as 36 points were available.
Criciúma, Santos and Mirassol’s points percentage in the Brasileirão
For Criciúma, Santos and Mirassol, the season must be specified before presenting the percentage. Criciúma may appear in a different edition from the one in which Santos or Mirassol played in Série A, and comparing campaigns from different years can distort the analysis. The formula remains the same: points won divided by points available.
Coritiba, Corinthians and Novorizontino’s points percentage in the Brasileirão
Coritiba’s, Corinthians’ and Novorizontino’s points percentages should be calculated based on the specified edition and matchweek. If one of these clubs is in Série B or outside the top flight during the period analysed, it has no Brasileirão points percentage for that season. To avoid inaccurate data, specify the year, matchweek or cutoff date required.
